Commission
Create a fictional scene inspired by the exploration of the unknown.
process
The client's desire for a fictional element was pivotal in shaping the scene. Crafting the right character was crucial to its success. Through the ocean pollution angle, the client approved the concept of a fish struggling to breathe in its own ecosystem. By anthropomorphizing the fish's skeleton, the aim is to foster accountability for natural habitat destruction.
color
Following the character drawing, the vintage scuba mask was paired with a teal and rust color palette to evoke ideas of toxicity.
Creating a complete 3D render involves multiple stages. It commenced with character modeling, followed by environment and particle simulations.
3D Development
Upside down reflections in the bubbles near the tail and the appropriate texturing of the diver's helmet are elements that contribute to realism of the render.
Subtle streaks of light entering the scene from the water's surface act as a spotlight for the character, setting it as the focal point of the scene, which our client was ultimately very happy with.
An optimized mesh facilitated experimentation with the environment, enabling contextual adjustments.
Elements like bubbles, seaweed, rocks, sand, and notably, a shipwreck, were pivotal in providing context to the character.
