Sharp Type Foundry
Create a typography specimen promoting the typeface.
process
Through the design of this poster series, ensued this specimen catalogue. Lucas Sharp’s redesign of Ogg’s original typeface beholds intricate details and a simplistic elegance. Conveying these in a most rudimentary manner, allowing the typeface to speak for itself was key to the specimen’s success. These posters include superimposed outlines of various font weights, details of specific features, and an emphasis on the font’s italics.
COLOR
The inspiration for the color palette is reminiscent of Ogg’s original typographic handbooks. Vibrant inks of black and blood-orange printed on yellowed vellum are staples of the antiques.
For the Sharp Foundry, it was important that the design decisions were almost entirely informed by research. The collection reflects our attention to detail and adherence to design themes.
